The Three Personality Clusters
Cluster A
Cluster A personality disorders are disorders in which odd or eccentric behaviors is common. In other words, Cluster A are a class of mental disorders which is characterised by strange behavioral patterns, a pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others, lack of empathy, a lack of interest for social relationships and extreme discomfort in interacting socially. Many of these patterns develop during an early stage of persons life and or have experienced a traumatic childhood experience.
The personality disorders involved in Cluster A includes Paranoia, Schizoid and Schizotypal Personality Disorder.
Cluster B
Cluster B personality disorders are disorders that consist of dramatic, emotional or erratic disorders. Cluster B, is a class of mental disorders that involve dramatic actions or thoughts in a person. Cluster B consists characteristics which include a disregard for the rights and violation of others, lack of empathy, constantly being in unstable relationships, have an issue in self image and identity, impulsive behavior that may cause self harm, attention seeking and having excessive emotions.
The personality disorders involved in Cluster B includes Antisocial Personality Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Histrionic Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
Cluster C
Cluster C personality disorders are disorders that consist of anxious or fearful disorders. Cluster C, are a class of mental disorders that involve anxious thoughts and actions. The characteristics of Cluster C, consist of characteristics which include the persuasive feelings of social restlessness and inadequacy, acting sensitively to negative actions or thoughts, a constant need to be psychologically helped by others and the usability to break rules.
The personality disorders involved in Cluster C include Avoidant Personality Disorder, Dependent Personality Disorder and Obsessive-compulsive Personality Disorder.
